Interim Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries at Cardowan by Stepps
Results updated 23 Jul 2025
The Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland now known as Boundaries Scotland, completed its Interim Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries at Cardowan by Stepps in March 2020.
The Review was in response to changes to the boundary between North Lanarkshire and Glasgow City council areas in the Cardowan area in April 2019. The Scottish Parliament constituency and region boundaries in the vicinity of Cardowan differed from the administrative boundary between Glasgow City and North Lanarkshire council areas.
We published our initial proposals in October 2019 for a one month public consultation period, where the public had the opportunity to comment on the Commission's proposals. All comments received were carefully considered by the Commission.
The changes we proposed affected around 320 electors and allowed the Scottish Parliament constituency and region boundaries in the Cardowan area to be aligned with the council area boundary in time for the Scottish Parliament elections in May 2021.
